Previous fees for the workshop have been:
* Half what you earn in a day (in pounds stirling).
* Three times your age, plus one-third of one percent
of your annual gross income, plus or minus ten per cent
at your discretion (in euros)
* A meaningful amount of money (whatever that means to you)
HOW THIS WORKSHOP WAS ARRANGED
(You don't need to read this. It's quite long-winded. But if you're interested in how the money is
working in practice for the people hosting the money workshop, here's the detail...)
HOW PETER AND CHARLIE ARE DEALING WITH THE MONEY
(a phone call, transcribed from memory)
Peter: What I wanted to suggest was that perhaps you would like to take part of the
workshop as well as organising it.
Charlie: Yes. That would be great.
Peter: Now, with regard to the money, I'd like to suggest we make an arrangement just for
this one workshop - and we can look at it again for any further work we do together.
Charlie: OK. That sounds fine.
Peter: And, if you're happy with this, what I'd like to suggest is that, after we have paid for
the venue and travel costs and tax, that we split any money that's left over 50/50. And what I like to
do with my organisers is to suggest that we work on that basis and then we can meet up,
say, a week after the workshop and see if that still feels like the right arrangement.
Charlie: Yep, OK that sounds great.
THE ECONOMICS OF PUTTING ON THE WORKSHOPS
1 x one-day workshop in Brighton
1 x one-day workshop in London
Return flight from Zurich: = approx. £150
Venue hire (2 x 1 day): = £150
Hotel for three nights = £180
Trains (from airport and London/Brighton): £50
SUB-TOTAL: £530 (approx)
Peter and Charlie's fee: negotiable
TOTAL: £530 (approx), plus Peter and Charlie's fee.
HOW PARTICIPANTS ARE PAYING
A deposit of £10 before the workshop, plus whatever participants would like to pay on the day.
Assuming 20 attendees for each day: 2 x 20 x £10 = £400 (gross)
BACKGROUND TO THE MONEY WORKSHOP AND ITS FINANCING
Charlie and Peter are putting on this particular workshop independently.
It's not tied to any organisation or funded by any external sources.
Peter normally runs two-day money workshops, where the fee for participants is one-half of
what you earn in a day.
This is designed to ensure that the costs of the workshop (including Peter's fee) are covered
by the group, whilst keeping the workshop accessible to anyone who would like to attend it
irrespective of their means. (if you earn nothing, you pay nothing. if you earn £400 a day,
you pay £200.)
Peter has recently revised his algorithm for how people pay for this money workshops.
It is currently:
3 X your age + one-third of 1% of your gross annual income +/- 10% at your own
discretion.
